According to the American Counseling Association (ACA), professional counseling is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals (ACA, 2018). Students who are preparing to specialize as clinical mental health counselors will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to address a wide variety of circumstances within the context of clinical mental health counseling.

The dynamic between couples, families, and children can be a difficult system to evaluate, analyze and assist. By concentrating on relational, social, and cultural experiences of clients, while still taking into account the context of their inner world, you’ll be empowered to help others through difficult or confusing times. With the correct theoretical perspectives in place and the ability to approach each circumstance interpersonally, you’ll be prepared to solve challenges systemically and with tact.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Couple and Family Therapy (PhD in MFT) has a focus on Social Justice applications to marriage and family therapy, and prepares graduates for academic, leadership, supervision, and research careers. There is considerable focus on research training in this doctoral degree, and as a degree in MFT, there is also a clinical training component. In everything we do, we emphasize principles of social justice, and our students learn about ways to apply social justice principles in research, teaching and supervision, and clinical work.

 

Through convenient, highly-quality specialized training, the Addictions Counseling certificate program prepares you for a rewarding career of returning normalcy and peace to the life of victims through advanced recovery methods. You will help others overcome the harms of addiction and assist them in mitigating the regional and national substance abuse crisis. The requisite skills that you will learn will allow you to become a better communicator, supporter, and advocate for the sensitive epidemic that has negatively affected the health of victims, their families, and our communities.

 

Members of the military and their families have encountered many unique challenges that might affect their mental and behavioral health. Military service, active duty, and war are inherently stressful and traumatizing, and it takes unique psychological training to understand, assess, and mitigate the detrimental effects. Antioch University’s MEd in Humane Education is recommended for school leaders and classroom educators in working in public, private, and independent K-12 schools, early childhood educators, homeschooling parents, university faculty, curriculum developers, and outreach educators. Teachers learn to present intersectional content related to environmental preservation, animal protection, and social justice in age-appropriate ways. Degrees in Environmental Studies & Sustainability

Developing and implementing conservation plans, conducting natural resource inventories, managing land for plant and wildlife habitat, working with local communities to generate solutions to environmental problems, and teaching conservation in formal and informal educational settings are all aspects of Conservation Biology.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are increasingly used for policy-making, scientific, administrative, educational, and recreational purposes. As GIS has become a vital decision support tool, the national and international need for qualified professionals has grown at an unprecedented rate.
